Hi all and welcome back to my monthly column. What a great month October was, especially as it was breast cancer awareness month.
What better way to celebrate it by throwing a party and raising some cash for two amazing breast cancer charities at The Isla Gladstone conservatory in Stanley Park.
I can't tell you how fabulous our special day went. We wanted to do something special to raise awareness so I and a good friend Annie Potter (Elliot Fletcher) decided that we would do our good deed and host a charity event. Having both experienced with friends and family the heartache that breast cancer brings we thought the least we could do was give something back by raising funds. We couldn't have done it without the support of family, friends & local businesses and we are so grateful for that - people’s generosity was outstanding.
We managed to raise over £8k which we split between the Linda McCartney centre & The Marina Dalglish Appeal. The day kicked off with a drink on arrival followed by good old fashioned Scouse! Hosting the event was Vince Earl (my on screen Brookie dad Ron Dixon) who did a fantastic job entertaining the guests whilst conducting the raffle/auction prizes. Music on the day was provided by local girl & friend Jo Birchall who had just released her debut album "Something to Say", followed by the legendary Liverpool band Ground Pig. The atmosphere was electric & the dance floor packed - the day could not have gone any better.
There were prizes for the best pink attire, dress designer Mark Melia & Boudoire Boutique kindly donated vouchers to the winning ladies.
Thank you once again to the Isla Gladstone conservatory for having us and thank you to everyone who supported the event & donated prizes, you know who you are. The list is endless, until next time!
